Happy new year to everyone in the Camrose area- from all of the staff at the Recycle with Centra Cam depot.
The holidays generate tonnes of waste, and some of that waste can be recycled. Please see our FAQ section below to see what you can drop off for recycling at the Camrose recycling depot and to reduce waste in the landfill. We accept many more items than you may think!
Unfortunately holiday wrapping paper or gift wrap are not items that we are able to accept.
Hours of operation
Most products are accepted in the drop-off bins that are open
24 hours per day/7 days per week
The Recycling Depot is staffed from
Monday to Saturday- 8 am to 4 pm
Data Destruction and Paper Shredding services are only available during staffed hours.
Drop-off hours:
Open 24 hours/day to the public for most drop-offs
Staff hours:
8 am - 4 pm Monday to Saturday for special drop-offs

Accepted: All products must be generally clean and free from any contamination)

Phone books
Shredded paper (clean and not mixed with anything else)
Not accepted:
We do not accept gift wrap, wrapping paper or gift bags
We do not accept used paper towel, tissues, Kleenex, or masks.
Cardboard types that the depot accepts & does not accept
Accepted: (All products must be generally clean and free from any contamination)
We accept clean cardboard that does not have a wax coating on it, but it must be dry!
Not accepted:
We do not accept cardboard with a wax coating on it.
Cardboard cannot be mixed with anything else and all food must be removed before dropping off cardboard.
Wet cardbaord is not accepted
Plastic types that the depot accepts & does not accept
Accepted: (All products must be generally clean and free from any contamination)
Plastic containers with the #1, #2, and # 5 symbols are accepted. Labels can remain on the item.
Plastic bags and film are also accepted.
Not accepted:
No other plastics other than the ones mentioned above will be accepted at the Recycle Depot.

Stretch wrap film
Please look at the bottom of the plastic container that you wish to drop-off at the recycling depot and ensure that it has the #1, #2, or #5 in the recycling emblem embedded in the plastic. If this number cannot be found, or is a number other than 1, 2, or 5, then there is no market for the container and we cannot accept it.

E-waste that the depot accepts & does not accept

In general almost all electrical devices are eligible to be recycled.
The list of accepted items is very long and too comprehensive to list here.

Grass clipping, trees, leaves, and branches are not accepted but can be taken to the City of Camrose landfill organics area composting area
Bottled gas containers are not accepted
Styrofoam and and plastics marked #3, 4, 6, and 7 are not accepted
Anything containing Freon or refrigerant
Appliances larger than a microwave
Organics of any kind are prohibited. You may be able to take your organics to the organics area of the landfill. See the City of Camrose page for more information

It is unlawful to leave household hazardous waste at the Recycle with Centra Cam depot.

The Camrose Regional Solid Waste Authority hosts a spring and fall household hazardous waste round-up each year in Camrose.
Camrose residents are invited to dispose of their household hazardous waste products at this event. Please call the City of Camrose at 780-672-4428 for more information or visit their website for more information.
