Big changes to the facility coming on July 1st. Residents will be asked to drop items off into new bins in the depot yard.
Alberta has made changes to residential recycling!
The new EPR recycling program (extended producers responsibility) that Alberta adopted in April of 2025 is focusing on improving the overall residential recycling experience and increasing the quantities of PPP products that are recycled within Alberta.
PPP products are comprised of Plastics, Packaging, and Paper products and most types are now accepted at the Recycle wtih Centra Cam depot. There are some limitations to this in that the program is designed for residential single use products including paper, plastics, metal, and glass, and some long-term packaging products are excluded as per the description below:
In general, the items that are excluded and not recyclable at the depot at this time are as follows:
• packaging intended to be reused or refilled for at least five years
• packaging intended to be used for long-term storage or protection of a durable product for at least five years
• packaging not made primarily from glass, plastic, metal, paper, or any combination therein such as jute bags, burlap fabric, cloth bags, wood pallets, wood crates, butcher string, organza bags
